LOVE LIST - JANUARY MOOD // 06

January 1, 2024

HAPPY 2024! I love reflecting on the previous year and it’s crazy to realize how much happens in a year. A year is a long time! Above is my JANUARY MOOD(board). Kind of a vision board. Kind of winter vibes. Sort of how I am feeling right now. Setting goals. Embracing winter. Trying to create healthy work and life habits and routines… and I am reminding myself: Don’t spend another year doing the same shit. It’s going to be a good one!

For this year I decided to choose a word to really focus on. My word for 2024 is CLARITY - in different aspects of my life including work goals, day-to-day tasks, streamlining and my productivity. A couple other words for this year are SIMPLIFY (and not overthinking), and CONFIDENCE (in sharing, showing up and going after what I want). Do you choose a word (or three) for your year? Let me know if you do!!

… and now here are a few specific things I am really into right now:

I’m creating …
Nostalgic Sticker Collages

Over the holidays, I tried to slow down and do things I usually don’t make time for. I did two puzzles! I couldn’t tell you the last time I did a puzzle - but it’s so relaxing! I even got a felt mat that allows me to roll it up when I’m not working on it. I’ve been collaging IRL - thanks to the inspo from a Collage Night at Issues Magazine Shop that I attended. But what I am really excited about is that I also started playing around with stickers! I used to LOVE stickers and have the fondest memories visiting the magical Sandylion Sticker Factory as a kid (anyone??). I brought out my old sticker collection and have been creating sticker stories and collages. This is a sneak peak of an oversized 20x30” piece that I am making for one of my boys' bedrooms. The nostalgia is real!!

I’m loving my …
JSTORY PLANNER (Large Size)

JSTORY is a Korean paper company that makes minimal planners. I love the simplicity (see my word)... I do use it simultaneously with a plain lined Moleskine notebook for extra note taking, and to-do list writing room. They have a variety of sizes and colours and also weekly planners. If I were to design a planner it would be clean and simple like this but I would definitely add a few extras. I LOVE stationary and planners and am curious what planner you use? What are your must-haves in a planner?

I’m reading …
Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez

This is kind of like a little Book Club and it will be a part of every newsletter. One of my goals from 2023 was to trade in scrolling and read every night before bed. It has made a huge difference in my sleep and I really look forward to reading every night! Last year I read just over 20 books and I plan to surpass that this year. If you’re on Goodreads let’s follow each other! Part of Your World was my fave book I’ve read recently. It’s a really easy feel-good story. Perfect if you’re just getting back into reading!

ICYMI -

A new Pattern Crush Blog Post is up on The Mom Lists. Pattern Crush: is a blog series where I post some of my favourite patterned products that I am totally crushing on. This roundup is a cozy one!

LOVE LIST - NOVEMBER MOOD // 05

November 1, 2023

It’s already November… October feels like a blur as the world feels like it’s been flipped upside down. I usually look forward to gathering my visual thoughts to create a mood board but honestly, this month it has been hard to find inspiration. I have not really been in the mood for much. Like many, I have been glued to my phone watching the hate that is going on in the world. My saves have been of news videos and impactful and thoughtful facts and quotes. As unmotivated as I was, I also felt it was important to share this love list and share a bit of feel-good and lightness. I am writing this love list letter because really LOVE is what we need right now.

This is my final LOVE LIST for 2022.
Wishing everyone (a very early) Happy Holidays and New Year.

Above is my NOVEMBER MOOD(board). Embracing calmness and comfort (and some yummy treats).

… and now here are a few specific things I am really into right now, all are Jewish centred companies:

I’m sending …
Everyday Yiddish Cards

I am a huge fan of Everyday Yiddish’s greeting cards. They are dedicated to celebrating Yiddish language and Jewish culture in all its glory, sarcasm and wit. They are not only hilarious and nostalgic but also beautifully designed by graphic designer, Jody Kamen.

I’m shopping at …
Via Maris

When I say the most gorgeous modern Judaica, I mean it. Via Maris curates Jewish objects — some of the oldest design objects in the world and often very traditional looking and impractical — but designed in the Modernist tradition. How stunning?

LOVE LIST - SEPTEMBER MOOD // 04

September 1, 2023

HEY SEPTEMBER! September in some ways feels more like a new year than January. It’s a time for change and routines and although I’m sad summer is over there is something refreshing about Fall. The days begin with a crisp breeze and cozy sweaters aren’t too far in the forecast but we still are teased with summer temperatures.

I’m looking forward to new and exciting projects this Fall, like a cookbook I’m styling this month as well, as a super fun pattern design project coming up. I hope to have time to continue to work on building my surface design portfolio and complete my 100 day design challenge on instagram (before the end of the year!)

Above is my SEPTEMBER MOOD(board). All the fall colours and coziness.

Layers and patterns. Apple picking and sunflower picking, cool morning walks with warm drinks. Dinners out and dinners in with friends. Slow mornings and reading under a blanket, and fun socks (because generally I hate socks!)

… and now here are a few specific things I am really into right now:

I’m reading …
Lunch Lady Magazine
This has been my favourite magazine for as long as I can remember. An Australian indy magazine that has been an inspiration for my love for pattern design. Earlier this year they announced that they will no longer be creating the magazine (after 8 years and 30 issues), so I’ve been stocking up on old issues and love how timeless they are. They also make a stunning rainbow stack on my bedside table!

I’m loving my …
Philips One by Sonicare Rechargeable Toothbrush.

This seems sort of silly but I LOVE my toothbrush. First off it comes in the cutest colours. I have the Champagne colour and the rechargeable version (there’s also a battery version). It’s an electric toothbrush that only needs to be charged every 3+ months (so no ugly charging station that need to be plugged in). I love it for travel and it comes with a great travel case. I took it with me on all my road trips this summer when I used to pack a basic travel toothbrush that I would throw out after the weekend. Oh the little things!

I’m Watching …
MasterClass.

I’ve been wanting to try MasterClass for a while now and I finally hopped on a good promo and subscribed. MasterClass is an immersive learning experience with classes from some of the best in the world. I’ve been trading in Netflix and have been watching Masterclass instead in the evenings. My watch list is huge including Rupaul, Shae McGee, Tan France, Kelly Wearstler, Annie Leibovitz, Bill Nye and so many more. Anyone have reccos?

LOVE LIST - JULY MOOD // 03

July 1, 2023

HEY July! Summer is here and is in full swing - heat waves and all! I find I spend what feels like all year dreaming of the summer months, and every year they fly bye. So here is your reminder to get outside, enjoy and explore!

Above is my JULY MOOD(board) - all the summer time feels. Berry picking and flower picking, forest walks and beach chills, lake dips with ice cream cones, patio mocktails and feel-good tunes. Summer adventures, road trips and bike rides.

… and now here are a few specific things I am really into right now:

I’m wearing …
Merge Balmy Summer Roll-On Fragrance

… created by a Canadian brandbased out of Tofino, BC. I originally bought it at The June Motel but you can find it at a number of other small local shops. It’s described as a sweet memory of summer… and that’s why I plan to wear it all year long!

I’m reading …
Meet My at the Lake.

I LOVED her first book Every Summer After, so I had high expectations and this one did not disappoint. I recommend reading it under the sun on the dock or snuggled up at the cottage - it’s the perfect summer read. Fun fact: the author Carley Fortune is from Toronto (and we overlapped at Chatelaine magazine), so lots of familiar references.

I’m using …
SoYoung Ice Packs.

I’ve been using these amazing ice packs from local brand SoYoung. I find myself constantly grabbing them especially during the summer. They are super versatile, a great compact size and I love how they don’t get things wet as they melt. They come in so many beautiful designs as well.

ICYMI -

I had the opportunity to design custom peel-and-stick wallpaper! I designed a floral pattern to freshen up a little girls bathroom - and it turned out so cute! It really is the best feeling seeing your work IRL.

LOVE LIST - MAY MOOD // 02

May 1, 2023

HEY MAY! With the warmer weather and sun in the forecast, I am looking forward to outdoor picnics and lots of sunny adventures. Above is my MAY MOOD(board). Collect adventures (not things) - is what I’m striving for as I think about the end of Spring and beginning of Summer. I’m loving the retro oranges (and orange has typically been my least favourite colour!), lots of sunny vibes, and always floral.

I’m super excited to announce my first PROP STYLING WORKSHOP WITH Mimi for Creatives! Join me to learn Prop Styling Tips and Tricks! This workshop is geared to anyone who wants to elevate their styling skills and have more confidence in their content creation. Styling helps you create a visual story to connect with your audience, evoke feelings, and leave a lasting impression. The workshop is on Tuesday at 2pm EST but a recording will be sent out if you can’t make it live. I would LOVE for you to join!

OWN YOUR SPACE is NOW OUT!!! This is my most favourite project to date. I had the honour of producing and styling Alexandra Gater’s debut coffee table book. If you haven’t already, get yours today! It is stunning and inspirational and you may or may not see some of my spaces in it 🙈

… and now here are a few specific things I am really into right now:

I’m reading…
Own Your Space.

… obvi!! If you don’t know Alexandra Gater, she is a very talented DIY YouTuber (and friend of mine!) In her book, she shows you how to creatively, inexpensively, and beautifully decorate your space in an inviting and accessible way. It is super informative and is full of great resources.

I’m shopping at …
Motel A Miio.

I discovered this shop when I was in Utrecht in The Netherlands last month. I walked in and was in ceramics heaven. Produced in Portugal, Motel A Miio is filled with colourful ceramics for your home. It felt like a prop shop, which was so comforting and inspiring to me.

I’m watching …
Daisy Jones & the Six.

I always read the book before the movie. I often like the book better than the movie. But Daisy and The Six - I think I like the show better. I loved it. I finished it and started it from the beginning again, which I’ve never done before.

ICYMI -

Here are a few patterns I designed this month. I’m hoping to see some of these on products in the future!
A new Pattern Crush Blog Post is up on The Mom Lists. Pattern Crush: is a series where I post some of my favourite patterned products that I am totally crushing on.
